Kamala Harris stronger for Democrats than Biden, Polls suggests
A recent national poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Donald Trump by a margin of 42% to 41%, while President Joe Biden trails Trump 42% to 43%. The survey, conducted by Bendixen & Amandi, also tested other potential Democratic candidates, such as California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, but found them trailing behind Trump.
The poll suggests that Harris may be a stronger candidate for the Democrats, surpassing even the former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who leads Trump 43% to 41%. A Clinton-Harris ticket would have a four-point advantage over Biden-Harris, beating Trump 43% to 40%.
This comes as President Biden faces criticism following the June 27 debate, with many calling for him to step aside and allow another candidate to run. The poll found that only 29% of likely voters believe Biden has the mental capacity and physical stamina to serve another four-year term, compared to 61% who do not.
